The Electrical & Electronic Engineering program at NUI Galway focuses on three key research areas:
Biomedical Electronics, Biometrics and Bio-inspired Electronics, Signal Processing and Communications
Power Electronics and Energy Conversion. Complementing these research priorities is a strong expertise in Embedded Systems Design, with applications spanning all Electrical & Electronic Engineering fields, particularly in Biomedical, Biometrics & Bio-inspired Electronics as well as Signal Processing & Communications.
This embedded systems capability enhances research across disciplines while showing special relevance to Biomedical, Biometrics & Bio-inspired Electronics and Signal Processing & Communications.
The College of Science and Engineering provides research-focused programs at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Post-Doctoral levels.

Bachelor of Engineering (honours) or equivalent, at Second Class Honours Grade One level or above.
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
