The Discipline provides guidance across a broad spectrum of medical fields. Prospective candidates interested in either degree should consult with the Head of Discipline.
The Academic Department of Paediatrics at University of Galway is situated within the Clinical Science Institute. Its faculty includes Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Tutors, and Honorary Clinical Lecturers.
Beyond paediatric education at University Hospital Galway, clinical training is also conducted at affiliated institutions such as Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar, Sligo General Hospital, Letterkenny General Hospital, and Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

Qualification Requirements

MD candidates should normally have a high honours standard in Medicine from the University of Galway or possess qualification deemed to be equivalent. Candidates shall be eligible to register onto the MD programme, three years after obtaining the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine. The application will also require support of an academic staff member who is approved by the College to supervise the research in terms of its nature and scope.
Additional entry requirements: candidates may be required to submit a research proposal for consideration by the School as part of their application.


IELTS- 6.5 overall no less than 6.5 in any one component.
TOEFL- 88 overall 20-23 Listening, 20-22 Speaking, 24-26 Writing, 19-23 Reading
