The Department provides guidance across a broad spectrum of medical specialties. Prospective students interested in either degree program should consult with the Department Head.
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department delivers the OBGYN curriculum during Year 4 of the medical undergraduate program. With a rich history in postgraduate training, the Department explores diverse research topics such as: Premature Birth, Uterine Muscle Function, Placenta Science, Fetal Health Conditions, Molecular Processes in Childbirth, and Obstetric-related Cerebral Palsy.

Qualification Requirements

MD candidates should normally have a high honours standard in Medicine from the University of Galway or possess qualification deemed to be equivalent. Candidates shall be eligible to register onto the MD programme, three years after obtaining the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine. The application will also require support of an academic staff member who is approved by the College to supervise the research in terms of its nature and scope.

Additional entry requirements
Candidates may be required to submit a research proposal for consideration by the School as part of their application.
IELTS- 6.5 overall no less than 6.5 in any one component.
TOEFL- 88 overall 20-23 Listening, 20-22 Speaking, 24-26 Writing, 19-23 Reading
