This program offers an in-depth exploration of film and digital media theory and history, combined with hands-on training in film production, screenwriting, and digital design. Learners gain proficiency with industry-standard tools while building essential skills for professional careers in applied arts and design.
Based at the Huston School of Film & Digital Media, the course immerses students in a vibrant creative community while providing connections to regional and national media industries through a prestigious university setting. Founded in 2003 with support from the Huston family, our alumni include Oscar and Emmy-nominated screenwriters. The School maintains strong industry ties, with graduates pursuing careers in film production, directing, screenwriting, game development, e-learning, festival curation, and academia.
Practical Experience
During Year 3, participants can apply their learning through real-world opportunities, including media internships and guided creative research projects.
Minimum Grade H5 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at O6/H7 level in the Leaving Certificate, including Irish, English, another language, and three other subjects recognised for entry purposes.
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
