This innovative program expands upon more than ten years of expertise in nurturing undergraduate talent in Creative Writing at University of Galway. Designed for students with a passion for literary arts, the curriculum follows the core belief that writers develop their craft through active creation, prioritizing hands-on learning. You'll explore and practice key writing disciplines: Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Playwriting, and Screenwriting, while receiving guidance to identify and refine your unique creative voice.
Alongside your creative development, the program emphasizes real-world industry knowledge. Starting in your first year, weekly guest speakers from writing professions share insights through discussions and Q&A sessions, helping you understand professional writing environments.

Minimum Grade H5 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at O6/H7 Grades in the Leaving Certificate including Irish, English, another language, and three other subjects recognised for entry purposes.
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
