The MA in Irish Folklore and Ethnology is a newly created program designed to provide students with comprehensive understanding of Ireland's distinctive cultural expressions, particularly its oral traditions and folk heritage that reflect the nation's grassroots history. The curriculum covers diverse subjects such as research methodologies, oral storytelling traditions, folk music, ethnographic fieldwork techniques, archival practices, social customs, folk beliefs, material culture, traditional medicine, and comparative European ethnology. Students may pursue a Master's thesis or, for select candidates with appropriate opportunities, undertake internships at cultural institutions like the National Folklore Collection or the Irish Traditional Music Archive.

Due to the interdisciplinary scope of this field, alumni have secured positions in various sectors including heritage organizations, folklore archives, museums, and cultural institutions. Career paths also extend to education, academic research, media production, and journalism. This program additionally serves as a foundation for advanced studies in Irish Folklore, enabling specialized research in specific areas of interest.
