Since European culture draws heavily from Classical Antiquity, studying Classics provides understanding not only of ancient history but also of the influential ideas and texts that helped shape modern society. The BA degree offers three distinct subjects, which can be pursued individually or combined:
Greek & Roman Civilisation
Latin
Greek
The Greek & Roman Civilisation program examines the Classical World through various lenses including history, literature, art, archaeology, mythology, and philosophy. No prior subject knowledge is required, and students won't need to study ancient languages.
Latin and Greek courses enable students to either begin learning these languages or advance their existing skills. You'll develop the ability to read original works by renowned authors like Cicero, Homer, Plato, Sophocles, and Virgil.
