Folklore studies delve into traditional popular culture across different time periods. This field focuses on everyday people's history and customs, examining how traditions develop and function at a grassroots level. As an academic subject, Folklore (or ethnology) encompasses oral storytelling, social customs, physical artifacts, folk beliefs, rituals, and traditional musical expressions. It examines how communities preserve memories and how culture operates as a shared experience. The discipline analyzes folk traditions and their transmission, typically occurring through informal networks and frequently spanning great temporal and geographical distances.

This program explores Irish Folklore as a regional manifestation of global cultural patterns, making it especially appealing to students from abroad.
