The Postgraduate Diploma in Ancient and Medieval Languages is a 9-month full-time program designed to enhance proficiency in two or more historical languages, including Classical Greek, Latin, Old English, Old Irish, and Medieval Welsh. This course deepens understanding of the cultural and historical contexts of these languages while providing foundational linguistic skills for advanced research in ancient or medieval studies.

Participants complete 60 credits, with 40-50 credits dedicated to language modules (Section I) and 10-20 credits allocated to related history and culture courses (Section II). Module selection depends on prior experience with the chosen languages from the specified group, and students cannot retake beginner-level modules they've previously completed or their equivalents.
