Our MSc in Applied Environmental Geoscience offers thorough instruction in both the theoretical and practical aspects of environmental geoscience. Launched in 2017 through collaboration with industry leaders and government bodies, this Geology program was created by the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) to fill a critical skills gap in Ireland's environmental geoscience field.
Worldwide, there's increasing need for professionals with practical environmental geoscience expertise, a trend expected to continue growing. This career-focused, interdisciplinary program prepares graduates for roles across scientific research, engineering firms, environmental consulting, natural resource management, mining operations, regulatory bodies, and beyond - both in Ireland and internationally. The curriculum is continually updated with input from an advisory board comprising industry experts from diverse geoscience disciplines worldwide, ensuring it remains aligned with sector requirements.
Applicants must hold at least a Second Class Honours Grade II in a primary honours degree (NFQ Level 8) or equivalent in a Geological/Earth Sciences/Civil Engineering/Environmental Sciences area or a related relevant degree or have reached an equivalent standard through completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification.
