Our LLM program immerses students in the practical application and policy framework of global human rights law.
The curriculum provides an extensive selection of human rights law courses instructed by renowned specialists. It combines cross-disciplinary education with a distinctive International Human Rights clinical component, emphasizing crucial legal advocacy skills such as oral/written argumentation (both legal and policy-oriented), strategic casework, investigative techniques, and developmental approaches.

Prospective students for the LLM (International Human Rights Law and Public Policy) can alternatively enroll in a Postgraduate Diploma in International Law and Human Rights. Participants complete 60 credits from the LLM course offerings. The diploma program offers flexible completion options: 9 months full-time or 18 months part-time.
This condensed format particularly suits legal practitioners and professionals seeking an alternative to full master's study. Diploma graduates can advance their qualifications by submitting a 12,500-word research thesis to earn their Master's in Law (LLM).
For entry to this course you must be approved by the Faculty of Law and must normally:
(a) hold a Second Class Honours Grade I in a primary honours Law degree (NFQ, Level 8) or
(b) have such other relevant third-level educational qualifications and/or professional experience as, in the opinion of the School of Law, qualifies you under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to undertake the LLM (International Human Rights Law and Public Policy) Degree.
If you are an overseas candidate you are welcome to apply and your qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis as above.
