This program serves as a conversion pathway for students without prior degree-level history studies who wish to pursue an MA in History or expand their teaching qualifications to include History. Upon finishing the Higher Diploma in Arts History, you'll acquire comprehensive historical knowledge through thematic exploration of various subjects while honing essential analytical and writing skills for historical research.
The HDip in Arts History offers diverse learning experiences, ranging from large foundational lectures to intimate case study groups and seminars. You can focus on your preferred specialization area, whether it's Irish history, global relations, early modern periods, medieval studies, or ancient Irish history.
It is intended for those who already have a 3 or 4 year primary degree, preferably in the area of Arts or the Sciences, and who wish to study the subject History intensively over one academic year. The Higher Diploma in Arts is a conversion programme and applicants would not normally have studied the relevant subject to Honours Degree level previously.
