The PhD in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH) is a 48-month full-time interdisciplinary structured program starting from initial enrollment. Part-time study options are also offered, with both full-time and part-time students completing the taught modules concurrently.
Participants select either the Arts or Humanities track upon entry. Those enrolled at UCC must fulfill 75 credits of core coursework, training, and professional development modules throughout the program.
During the first year, UCC students complete 25 credits of coursework while advancing their thesis topic development, requiring approval of their research proposal and initial work by the DAH board.
In the second year, students take 20 credits of coursework while continuing to progress their thesis research, again needing DAH board approval for their proposal and preliminary findings.
The third year involves 25 credits of coursework, incorporating a professional placement and career development component, alongside ongoing thesis development subject to DAH board review.
Final year students complete 5 credits of coursework while finalizing and submitting their 80,000-word dissertation.
While allowing for interdisciplinary co-supervision and potential off-campus advisors (due to the program's inter-university partnerships), DAH students at UCC otherwise follow standard university PhD regulations.
