Genetics serves as the cornerstone of biological sciences, with genes containing the essential data that shapes our identity and environmental interactions.
The BSc Genetics program equips students to comprehend gene functions in individuals and populations, along with the transmission of genetic traits across generations. Our curriculum emphasizes molecular genetics, ensuring graduates gain robust expertise in contemporary genetic principles. The program explores diverse subjects including medical genetics, evolutionary biology, population genetics, animal husbandry, and genetic modification of plant and animal DNA.
During the first year, students build core genetic foundations, examining gene behavior in organisms and populations while exploring how initiatives like the Human Genome Project transform biological research methodologies.
The second year establishes essential groundwork for specialized genetic studies in subsequent years.
The final year features a three-month laboratory project, offering hands-on experience in applying genetic techniques to address current biological challenges. These research opportunities are conducted within the academic departments supporting the Genetics program.
