The variety of life on Earth, known as biodiversity, is declining at an accelerating pace. This biological richness supplies essentials like nourishment, garments, energy sources, building materials, pharmaceuticals, and numerous ecosystem benefits. As integral components of Earth's biodiversity, humans must comprehend and protect it to ensure a viable future for our species.
Instruction will employ diverse techniques: classroom sessions, hands-on labs, outdoor education, structured readings, discussion circles, and online platforms. Evaluation methods will similarly vary, including written assignments, verbal presentations, digital quizzes, tests, and thesis assessments. The program aims to gradually cultivate independent thought and scholarly distinction in participants, facilitating seamless progression for both recent undergraduates and professionals transitioning from the workforce.

Participants will conduct independent investigations, including both theoretical studies and practical experiments. A program highlight is the immersive spring field study in South Africa, concentrating on hands-on conservation techniques (this excursion requires additional fees beyond standard tuition).

While students may opt out of the research component to receive a Postgraduate Diploma, completion of a four-month independent research project is mandatory for the Master of Science degree.
