The School of Natural Sciences brings together the disciplines of Botany, Geography, Geology, and Zoology, along with the Centre for the Environment, creating a world-renowned, research-focused hub of academic distinction that unites biological, physical, and social scientists.
Research Opportunities
Faculty research within the School covers four primary focus areas: Ecology and Evolutionary Studies, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Molecular Biology and Physiological Comparisons, as well as Social Geography and Environmental Studies.
Our research efforts are led by 39 principal investigators, supported by postdoctoral fellows and graduate researchers working across numerous vibrant fields of study. Presently, we host over 140 postgraduate research candidates, plus an additional 50 students enrolled in our one-year master's programs (Environmental Sciences, Biodiversity Conservation, and Environmental Development), along with 45 participants in the two-year Master's in Development Practice.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
