The School of Dental Science employs approximately 28 full-time and 60 part-time faculty members, along with 20 research students and 60 students enrolled in taught programs. The institution operates from and maintains strong ties with the Dublin Dental University Hospital (DDUH), which underwent significant renovations and expansion in 1998, followed by the addition of a cutting-edge research laboratory in 2004.
The School has recently enhanced its research capabilities, postgraduate resources, and administrative spaces. It boasts contemporary clinical facilities and offers an extensive postgraduate dental education curriculum, including progressive continuing education opportunities for practicing dentists. Specialized training is available in Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Special Care Dentistry, and Dental Public Health, complemented by consultant training programs across various dental disciplines, along with Master's and Ph.D. research degrees. The institution also provides training for dental hygienists, nurses, and technicians, a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry for general practitioners, a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation, a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology, and practical courses for public service dentists, all emphasizing a collaborative team approach.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
