The School of Biochemistry and Immunology specializes in studying protein structures and functions, examining how genetic variations affect metabolism, and conducting research in neuroscience, cancer biology, bioenergetics, molecular enzymology, and cellular/molecular biology. It also focuses on immunology areas such as innate immunity, inflammation, immunomodulation, infection responses, molecular parasitology, and immunometabolism. The School secures substantial research funding from national and international sources and boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including core labs for flow cytometry, cell imaging, molecular graphics, and protein X-ray crystallography. Advanced spectroscopy equipment, such as double-beam and stopped-flow spectrophotometers, fluorimetry, and circular dichroism instruments, are available. In collaboration with the School of Chemistry, it operates a 600MHz NMR spectrometer with cryoprobe technology for protein structural studies. A newly established bio/chemical hazards facility further enhances its capabilities.

Situated in the Biomedical Sciences Institute on Pearse Street near Trinity's main campus, the School of Biochemistry and Immunology (SBI) maintains extensive global collaborations and strong ties with biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
