The Environmental Science and Engineering program is an innovative combined undergraduate and postgraduate degree designed to equip future graduates with the expertise, understanding, and practical skills needed to create and implement solutions that safeguard and enhance both our environment and human health. This program emphasizes working in harmony with nature to promote biodiversity, climate initiatives, and responsible management of Earth's limited resources.
Students will gain a solid foundation in natural sciences and engineering principles, along with hands-on skills for developing sustainable approaches to pressing environmental and societal problems. This distinctive blend of engineering and natural science coursework is among the first of its kind in Ireland and globally. The curriculum strongly focuses on developing practical laboratory and fieldwork abilities, as well as collaborative teamwork skills.
Graduates of this interdisciplinary program, whether as Environmental Engineers or Applied Environmental Scientists, will tackle some of today's most critical sustainable development challenges, especially those concerning environmental protection. With their dual expertise in Environmental Science and applied Engineering methodologies, they'll lead efforts to address numerous United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Program alumni will possess highly sought-after skills for employment in both private industry and government agencies, both within Ireland and internationally. Previous graduates specializing in Environmental Engineering from the Civil Engineering track have pursued careers in research & development, civil engineering firms, environmental consultancies, project engineering roles, regulatory agencies, energy corporations, mining companies, and entrepreneurial ventures.
Students must have:
TOEFL: Internet based 90 (with a written score of 21).
University of Cambridge: 180+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 175 in each skill and use of English i.e. Proficiency Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2), Advanced Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2), First Certificate
Grade A (CEFR Level C1); IELTS: (Academic version) 6.5 (no individual band below 6)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE Academic: a minimum score of 63 (with no section score below 59).
