As one alumnus recently observed, Sociology reveals how historical theorists foresaw contemporary societal challenges, from loneliness to healthcare crises. It examines pressing questions about India's potential to follow China's developmental path and technology's impact on community structures. The discipline deciphers the cultural distinctions among European nations and addresses significant social concerns including warfare, ethnicity, population shifts, gender relations, and mass media. Most importantly, it provides systematic methodologies for examining, interpreting, and communicating these complex subjects.
Applicants must have completed a high school qualification equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate. General matriculation requirements include pass grades in English, mathematics and a language other than English. Additional requirements may apply for some courses.
