Psychology explores human behavior and mental functions, covering areas like early development, perception, learning, motivation, cognitive functions (including memory and problem-solving), personality variations, and social psychology. The discipline incorporates scientific methodologies, featuring hands-on experiments, statistical data interpretation, and studies on brain physiology.
Beyond delivering excellent instruction, Trinity's School of Psychology partners with various fields through the Trinity College Institute for Neuroscience, the Trinity Centre for Global Health, and the Trinity Centre for Innovative Human Systems. Undergraduate students, especially in their later years, have opportunities to participate in current research projects. The Single Honours program qualifies graduates for associate membership in the Psychological Society of Ireland and prepares them for advanced studies in specialized fields like clinical and counseling psychology.
Applicants must have completed a high school qualification equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate. General matriculation requirements include pass grades in English, mathematics and a language other than English. Additional requirements may apply for some courses.
