This program prepares students to teach visual arts at secondary schools and other educational institutions. Participants will develop professional expertise through research-based instruction, combining creative/academic learning, investigative research, workplace discipline, and a basis for ongoing career growth.
The curriculum addresses the rising significance of digital media and social platforms, which are becoming increasingly accessible, particularly to youth. With focused attention on digital art/design tools and teaching methods, the program ensures educators gain confidence using modern digital technologies in both personal and professional spheres, especially in classroom instruction. It also builds on art/design graduates' growing proficiency with digital tools for creative work and online networking. Through online discussions within a teaching community, participants collaboratively explore, exchange, and build knowledge while supporting each other during school placements.
Field experience includes two intensive teaching blocks, allowing participants to fully engage with art/design departments and school environments. Placements occur at two distinct schools, providing diverse educational and social contexts.
