The Master of Science in Applied Software Engineering is a dynamic one-year full-time course, supported by Ericsson Ireland and ICT Skillnet and provided by TUS in Athlone. This comprehensive program spans the complete software development process, from core computing principles and software architecture to deployment and quality assurance. Tuition is fully covered for all students, with an additional living allowance provided. The program also features a three-month paid internship at Ericsson. Successful graduates receive a full-time software engineering position with Ericsson in Athlone.

Candidate evaluation and admission occur each spring, with the program starting in late June or early July.

Students develop a thorough, analytical understanding of current ICT product development skills and technologies. This fully sponsored MSc program explores modern software engineering foundations along with relevant tools, methodologies, and implementation strategies.

Qualification Requirements

To apply for this course, candidate must be:

(1) resident in Republic of Ireland
AND
(2) Irish or EEA national or resident in Republic of Ireland on a Stamp 4 Visa or Stamp 1G Visa

The programme is available to graduates with an honours Level 8 qualification who are eligible to work in Ireland. Candidates should preferably have a 2.1 Honours Primary Degree in a relevant discipline. This category includes (but is not limited to) Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Data Networking etc. but qualified applicants from any discipline with Problem Solving, Logic and Critical Thinking will receive consideration. Each application will be considered on its individual merits. Participants will not be entitled to retain any social welfare payments while attending the course as Ericsson is funding a Bursary to assist participants with expenses.
Candidates will undertake a course in advance of commencing the Masters to prepare and qualify them in the range of subject areas to be covered on the Masters programme. This course will lead to a Certificate in Software Engineering (Level 8) and is a pre-requisite for participation in the Masters programme.
