We aim to prepare the next generation of community development and youth workers through education and training, equipping them for diverse roles both in Ireland and abroad. Our goal is to foster engaged citizens who can drive meaningful change.

This program emphasizes inclusive practices, human rights, equity, and social justice while addressing sustainability challenges. Students explore pressing global concerns including systemic inequalities, environmental crises, economic disparities, and social exclusion. In the final year, coursework covers anti-racism initiatives, juvenile justice systems, and international development, with specialization options in fields like public policy, environmental sustainability, community mental health, leadership training, substance abuse prevention, and mediation techniques. The curriculum combines hands-on experience with academic study, featuring practical fieldwork components.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for Advanced Entry applicants must be currently studying, completing, or have successfully completed, studies at Level 6, 7 or 8 in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or an equivalent, in a related area. You must demonstrate by providing transcripts of results that you have achieved the learning outcomes for each stage you wish to advance past, for example:

To enter Year 2 via Advanced Entry, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Year 1.
For entry to Year 3, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Years 1 and 2.
For entry to Year 4, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Years 1, 2, and 3.

Application for admission to this add-on Honours Degree (Level 8) course will be considered from graduates of TU792 Bachelor of Arts in Community Development & Youth Work or a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7 course).

International Baccalaureate - Overall IB Score of 24

IELTS - 6.0 with no less than 6 in each component
TOEFL Internet Based Test - 80 with no less than 21 in writing and at least 18 in every other section
