The Master of Business (Economics and Finance Stream) is an intensive one-year program designed to equip graduates for careers in finance or economics. Developed in partnership with financial institutions, this program addresses industry demand for professionals with expertise in econometrics, financial derivatives, data analysis, and advanced financial interpretation. The curriculum produces highly skilled graduates with strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, ready for specialized roles in economic and financial sectors.
The program combines traditional lectures with workshops led by finance experts, specialized seminars on economic and financial topics, and industry visits. Practical training focuses on essential areas like econometrics, derivatives, analytics, and corporate finance analysis. Students gain hands-on experience with quantitative financial techniques, business simulations, and monetary economics, utilizing the Business School's financial software suite including Thomson One Banker, StockTrak, and Financial Times platforms.
A H1 or 2.1 overall award in a strong specialist business/economics and finance undergraduate degree or a general business undergraduate degree with an economics and/or finance major/specialism.
Students from a non-business degree (example – BA or a BSc) but with relevant economics/finance related modules may also be eligible.
Graduates who have achieved a 2nd class honours grade 2 in the degrees listed above and who can demonstrate a high level of performance in the economics/finance related subjects may be considered.
