Quantity surveying fundamentally focuses on overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects and managing the contractual agreement between clients and contractors. These professionals possess the expertise to assess and calculate the scope of work required for any project prior to construction, providing cost estimates to clients and contractors from the earliest architectural design stages. This specialized knowledge in contracts and financial management makes Quantity Surveyors invaluable in the construction sector, with their skills in high demand and generously compensated.
The BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying prepares students to excel as professional quantity surveyors or cost consultants in both Irish and international construction markets. Graduates will develop strong communication abilities and proficiency in relevant Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). The program includes a 30-week paid internship during the third year, offering experience with leading local and global contracting firms and professional quantity surveying practices. Fully accredited by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), this degree enables graduates to pursue chartered status upon completion.
