International Business refers to commercial activities conducted across national boundaries. It encompasses diverse operations such as exporting goods and services, collaborating with overseas suppliers, managing foreign production facilities, marketing products internationally, and leading multicultural teams. In today's interconnected world, virtually all commerce has global dimensions - particularly in Ireland, which ranks among the world's most globalized nations. Success in this field requires strong cross-cultural communication skills. The BA (Hons) International Business is a four-year degree designed to equip students for careers in multicultural settings, combining comprehensive business training with cultural awareness development.
A key feature of this program is the compulsory International Placement during the third year. Students spend an academic year abroad, typically studying at one of the School of Business' partner institutions worldwide, though international work placements are also possible. The School maintains partnerships across Europe, North America, and extending to Asia. This immersive experience forms a central component of the curriculum and often becomes students' most memorable academic experience.
