The Coaching and Sports Performance program focuses on equipping students with evidence-based knowledge to guide physical activities, coach individual athletes and teams, and oversee sports management. Graduates will gain expertise in creating and directing strength and conditioning regimens, as well as performance training plans.
They will also learn to provide safe, context-appropriate nutritional guidance for performance, utilize sports psychology principles, and implement recovery techniques for injuries or exercise fatigue to enhance athletic performance and rehabilitation.
A key feature of this program is its emphasis on hands-on learning. Students participate in various practical activities, including independent research, workshops, group discussions, leadership exercises, and direct engagement with clients, ensuring real-world application of their studies.
Many students actively compete on the University's sports teams and contribute through clubs and volunteer work. The department is widely recognized for its influence on national health, fitness, and leisure standards, playing a pivotal role in shaping industry education and policies.
