The Postgraduate Certificate in French for Teaching at Post-Primary Level is designed to help both domestic and international candidates earn the necessary subject-specific credits for accreditation through Ireland's Teaching Council. This program is ideal for BA and HDip/PME graduates already teaching in post-primary education who wish to expand their qualifications by adding French. It also caters to international candidates, including native French speakers, who have completed teacher training recognized by the Teaching Council but need up to 30 ECTS credits in French to register as language teachers.

This program is carefully structured to meet the Teaching Council of Ireland's accreditation standards for post-primary French teachers. It takes a threefold approach, combining intensive French language training with studies in literature, culture, film, linguistics, and language pedagogy. Through this comprehensive curriculum, the program seeks to deepen students' understanding of key aspects of French language, literature, and society while emphasizing practical teaching methodologies.
