The field of Robotics and Intelligent Devices centers on creating, deploying, and utilizing smart physical objects in our surroundings. This encompasses robotic systems, self-driving vehicles, intelligent sensors, and IoT devices. In today's society, these technologies often form the foundation for innovative services or enhancements across various sectors including healthcare, assisted living, security, advanced manufacturing, retail, and hospitality. Alongside robust software expertise, graduates of this program will gain comprehensive system competencies and understanding of system integration through studies in electronic hardware design, signal analysis, and control systems. Combining principles from Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, we emphasize embedding intelligence into everyday systems and creating robots capable of human and environmental interaction. Through project-based learning, students will investigate robotics and smart devices, with opportunities to specialize in particular interest areas or combine different themes throughout the program. A transfer option exists from first-year MH306 Robotics & Intelligent Devices to second-year MH304 Engineering, requiring a 50% minimum in Mathematics and successful completion of the first year, with no enrollment restrictions.
Students must have completed a Leaving Certificate equivalent to the Ireland Leaving Certificate.
