This partnership is acknowledged by the Irish government, the European Union, and global institutions as they seek to expand their workforce of certified policy experts. Dublin City University has developed a specialized online interdisciplinary program tailored to prepare the next wave of policymakers. The MSc in Public Policy represents an innovative professional qualification, combining academic depth with practical methodology to address society's increasingly intricate issues. Students complete four mandatory modules, select two electives from various offerings, and conclude with a Policy Analysis Project. Replacing conventional theses, this hands-on project—potentially connected to your current job—allows you to tackle actual policy issues presented by government agencies. The program empowers graduates with the expertise to confront modern policy dilemmas, ranging from post-pandemic recovery to environmental initiatives and Brexit implications.
The curriculum treats policy analysis as the practical application of social science theory, shaping both teaching methods and evaluation criteria.
Students gain the ability to conduct, interpret, and present professional policy assessments for governmental and related sectors.
Using problem-based learning (PBL), the program immerses participants in cutting-edge disciplinary knowledge through case studies before applying these insights to real-world challenges. To mirror professional environments, students collaborate on problem definition, data collection strategies, and equitable task distribution within teams.
