If you're mathematically inclined, a career in quantitative finance might be your perfect fit, and this program will equip you with the necessary skills. Modern financial innovations, particularly derivative securities, have been shaped by mathematical breakthroughs. To effectively utilize and innovate these products for risk management requires profound mathematical insight. What sets this course apart is its rigorous mathematical foundation, enabling you to master contemporary financial instruments with confidence. You'll acquire advanced expertise in probability theory, stochastic processes, financial economics, equity and fixed-income products, time series analysis, machine learning, and computational finance. The ability to think mathematically and logically represents some of the most versatile and sought-after skills in today's job market. The capacity to model and address intricate real-world challenges through mathematical frameworks and computational tools is particularly valuable - these competencies form the core of our curriculum. During your third year, you'll undertake an INTRA placement lasting up to eight months, often in quantitative positions within financial firms. While most opportunities are in Dublin's thriving financial sector, placements may extend elsewhere. Upon completion, you'll be exceptionally prepared for roles in trading, investment analysis, risk assessment, insurance, or actuarial science. As these fields demand strong mathematical aptitude, prospective students should excel in mathematics, as the program primarily focuses on mathematical principles rather than business aspects of finance.
