Through this program, you'll develop into a specialist therapist proficient in preventing, evaluating, managing, and rehabilitating sports-related injuries, including those affecting top-tier athletes. Featuring numerous practical placements, the course provides comprehensive theoretical understanding of human physiology before teaching you to implement that knowledge. This rigorous, hands-on curriculum introduces students to musculoskeletal medicine from the outset. You'll master assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques in classroom settings before applying them in real-world environments starting in your second year. Clinical rotations will include sports medicine facilities, rehabilitation centers, as well as field-side and team-based assignments. Your final year includes an intensive semester-long placement, potentially with an athletic therapy practice or professional sports organization. While some students complete these placements in Ireland, many pursue opportunities in the US, Canada, Australia, or the UK. Recognized by Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland, this program qualifies graduates for certification as Athletics Therapists. As autonomous practitioners with extensive clinical experience, graduates find excellent career prospects in sports medicine clinics, musculoskeletal practices, professional sports organizations, or musculoskeletal research positions.
