The Master of Science in Applied Psychology equips students with both theoretical foundations and practical abilities to effectively utilize psychological principles for creating meaningful global impact. This comprehensive program features a seamless, integrated curriculum encompassing diverse specialized subjects that impart knowledge of psychological theories, concepts, and processes while demonstrating their real-world applications. Students will examine human behavior through individual, social, and biological lenses, gaining deep theoretical and methodological understanding that enables them to evaluate interventions and craft tailored solutions for client needs. Coursework emphasizes practical applications, addressing professional ethics, neuroscience, life transitions, intervention strategies, and advanced research methodologies. Additional modules concentrate on implementing theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios, allowing students to refine their skills in both Health Psychology and Organizational Psychology applications.
The program culminates with optional capstone pathways (30 ECTS) where students can pursue either an independent placement or research project, resulting in either a Placement Project or Research Dissertation. Graduates will significantly strengthen their research abilities through rigorous critical analysis and sophisticated problem-solving approaches.
A first qualification in Psychology of an upper Second Class Honours (2.1) at NFQ Level 8 or above accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland or show eligibility for accreditation by the Psychological Society of Ireland. (In exceptional cases, the college may accept a lower Second-class Honours degree in Psychology on the basis of an interview).
For applicants whose first language is not English, the minimum English language requirement for entry to the programme is IELTS score 6.5 (or equivalent).
