The Industrial Design program follows IDSA standards with a focus on sustainable design and innovation, training students to develop products that integrate aesthetics, functionality, and social responsibility. The program offers an internationalized learning environment through European travel learn and master workshops, while its small-class studio system with personalized instruction ensures individual development. Students gain practical experience through industry collaborations. Graduates go on to work in consumer electronics, furniture design, UX design, and other fields, or pursue further studies at top tier institutions such as Johns Hopkins University and the Royal College of Art.

Qualified students who successfully complete the program requirements will be awarded degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University (China) and Kean University (USA).

Eligible students may elect to study at Kean University in New Jersey starting from their second semester or any subsequent semester, during which they will be eligible for in-state tuition rates at Kean University.

Program Objectives

This program aims to cultivate high-quality talents with a strong sense of social responsibility and mission, a solid foundation in industrial design theory and skills, and outstanding abilities in new product development and innovation. Graduates will acquire an international perspective and multicultural understanding, capable of promoting sustainable development of industrial design in a global context. They will become versatile and applied professionals with creativity, practical ability, and cross-cultural communication skills, contributing to industrial upgrading and social progress.

Program Features

The summer semester includes travel-learn programs in Rome and study tours in Europe (Italy, Greece, France, etc.). The program provides international teaching resources, regularly organizes the annual Thinking Creatively Conference and Let’s Charrette cross-disciplinary competitions, and invites internationally renowned design masters and experts to give lectures, exchanges, and collaborations, broadening students’ international horizons. Small-class (12–15 students) studio courses are taught by a professional mentor team with international and interdisciplinary backgrounds, providing one-on-one personalized guidance. Meanwhile, the college offers abundant school-enterprise cooperation projects and internship opportunities, integrating professional practice into the entire academic cycle. GHK Hall, the dedicated building of the College of Architecture and Design, spans over 15,000 square meters, providing the Industrial Design program with complete practical training conditions, including design studios, 3D model workshops, materials workshops, and processing workshops, helping students transform personal creativity into practice.

Accommodation: RMB 8,300 – RMB 10,000 (~USD 1,119 – USD 1,399) per academic year (based on 10 months).

Freshmen Scholarship

1. First-Class Scholarship: 60% reduction of the academic year's tuition fees.

2. Second-Class Scholarship: 30% reduction of the academic year's tuition fees.

The freshman scholarship is renewed annually for the duration of the four-year program, subject to an annual review. The renewal policy and relevant notifications will be communicated to applicants via email.
