The Clinical Area provides opportunities to participate in research related to psychotherapy processes, neuropsychology, health psychology, and personality studies. With over $4 million in active external funding, the area maintains a strong commitment to research excellence.
Clinical skill development is prioritized through diverse therapeutic approaches and assessment methods, supported by our on-site Psychology Training Clinic and external practicum placements. Applicants admitted to the Clinical Area can pursue specialized neuropsychology training through the Clinical Neuropsychology stream.
All faculty members, adjunct professors, and clinical supervisors involved in practicum and internship training are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Before earning their PhD, students must demonstrate:
Proficiency in clinically-focused research. Beyond coursework, this area emphasizes mentorship, with students collaborating closely with supervisors and practicing psychologists across various internship sites to integrate academic knowledge with practical skills.
Mastery of various assessment methods, including cognitive, personality, behavioral, neuropsychological, and psychometric evaluations.
Expertise in multiple psychotherapy approaches, including cognitive, behavioral, experiential, interpersonal, and psychodynamic techniques.
