The Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions is an interdisciplinary program offered through the School of Social Work. This certificate equips professionals with up-to-date expertise, practical skills, and the right mindset to better support individuals facing mental health and addiction issues. All courses are delivered online while emphasizing collaborative learning through team discussions and interactions with instructors and peers. Coursework is designed to help students directly implement their learning in real-world professional scenarios. The four-course curriculum deepens your understanding of mental health and addiction systems by examining their structures and stakeholders. You'll analyze existing frameworks while critically evaluating their effects on individuals, families, and communities. These rigorous yet fulfilling courses involve weekly readings, online discussions, remote group work, and critical analysis. Students typically dedicate about ten hours per week to each course.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants must have a four-year Bachelor’s degree, granted by university of recognized standing, and a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study. Graduate level credits are not used in the admission average.
Applicants must have completed at a minimum an undergraduate degree program in one of the following fields or equivalent*:

Medicine   
*Those with four-year Bachelor degrees in other programs are also welcome to apply but are required to provide detail in their cover letter and resumé explaining how their education and work experience relate to the area of mental health and addictions, and how pursuing this certificate would support their work in this field.
