This distinctive interdisciplinary program combines specializations in both French Literature and French Linguistics, delivering all courses exclusively in French across York University's campuses.

You'll explore French literary works and linguistic studies encompassing France, French Canada, and global Francophone communities (including Professor Szmidt's focus on North African literature and Professor R. Mougeon's investigations into Canadian French and immersion programs).

The program emphasizes hands-on research involvement: students serve as graduate/research assistants, Linguistics students engage with Glendon's Centre for Research on Language Contact, and all participate in student-led research colloquia. Non-native French speakers must demonstrate advanced French proficiency for admission.
