Often referred to as the "central science," chemistry bridges various scientific disciplines including biology, physics, geology, and environmental science. York's chemistry curriculum covers both traditional and cutting-edge areas—from analytical, physical, and organic chemistry to nanomaterials and biological chemistry. Our Pharmaceutical & Biological Chemistry specialization integrates biological, medical, and physical sciences to examine molecular-level processes like protein folding and drug mechanisms.
Available as an honors program elective, Materials Chemistry emphasizes the systematic creation of innovative functional materials through diverse synthetic approaches. The Analytical Chemistry track, another optional pathway, concentrates on core analytical techniques and separation methods, incorporating modern instrumentation, miniaturization, and digital technologies across various applications.
We are committed to supporting your success in whichever chemistry specialization you pursue.
