Chemistry explores the characteristics and changes of matter. You'll join a program recognized for innovative chemical and cross-disciplinary research, building a strong scientific base for further education and careers in related areas.
Admission to the chemistry program depends on a student's prior chemistry knowledge. While CHEM 110 and 111 aren't mandatory for the BSc degree, they're offered as electives for students without chemistry background or those beginning from BC high school chemistry 11. Students with BC high school chemistry 12 (or equivalent) typically begin with CHEM 121. Both major and honours students must meet the program's specified requirements. Regardless of major, students cannot register for any CHEM course if they received a D grade in its prerequisite.
