Our institution boasts state-of-the-art equipment that leads the industry. Unlike many schools that restrict new equipment solely for research purposes, Brock's facilities serve dual roles in both education and investigation. This practical approach to learning produces exceptionally capable science graduates. As a student, you'll actively contribute to our research initiatives through specialized courses and compensated summer projects, potentially even collaborating on published works.
Our curriculum emphasizes fundamental chemical concepts and their application across various disciplines, including organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and theoretical chemistry. We place particular focus on interdisciplinary areas like bio-inorganic and bio-organic chemistry, along with chemical biophysics. Faculty research explores diverse areas such as creating innovative chiral ligands, developing organometallic reagents, pioneering asymmetric synthesis techniques, and advancing green chemistry. Additional investigations examine protein affinity labeling, protein-lipid dynamics, and the relationship between molecular structure and anticancer drug effectiveness. Other research directions involve designing molecular architectures for novel self-assembling materials, developing new ligand frameworks for main-group compounds, employing cutting-edge laser spectroscopy and microscopy techniques, synthesizing nanostructured materials, characterizing organic substances, and analyzing trace contaminants. Theoretical studies concentrate on unraveling charge and energy transfer mechanisms within photosynthetic proteins.
