The Bachelor of Education (BEd) specializing in French as a Second Language (FSL) responds to a critical need in the province for highly skilled French language educators. Each year, the Faculty of Education offers specialized courses for a dedicated group of students at Glendon campus, equipping them to instruct in French Immersion settings. Upon completing the BEd program, graduates become eligible for certification through the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
Based mainly at Glendon campus, this French-focused Bachelor of Education program prepares future teachers for French immersion, Core French, and Extended French classrooms across all grade levels (Primary-Junior, Junior-Intermediate, and Intermediate-Senior). Instruction occurs predominantly in French, with a strong focus on developing cultural awareness of Francophone communities. The curriculum incorporates both community-based learning and hands-on teaching placements in schools.
