The Specialized Honours programs integrate essential core curriculum spanning scientific, social science, and humanities perspectives on global health. Foundational coursework includes human biology (covering anatomy and physiology), disease pathology (both infectious and chronic conditions), public health studies (such as epidemiology and health advocacy), research methodologies (including global health studies, program assessment, and healthcare strategy), health policy (examining social health factors, health politics, and international health governance), along with ethical and legal considerations (like global health ethics and human rights legislation).
Beyond these core requirements, Specialized Honours students complete at least 21 credits of electives within one of four specialized tracks tailored to professional aspirations: Global Health Advocacy and Preventive Medicine, International Health Policy and Administration, Environmental Health Studies, or Digital Health Solutions. The program culminates with a 250-hour hands-on Global Health Field Practicum, where students collaborate with educational institutions, government agencies, or NGOs domestically or abroad. This experiential learning is complemented by a concentrated two-week research-intensive capstone course.
