Laurier's PhD in Management program with an Accounting specialization equips you for a scholarly career path. The curriculum emphasizes concentrated study and investigation in either empirical financial accounting or behavioral accounting approaches.
Students gain comprehensive understanding of accounting theory and research methods through our program. By participating in teaching/research assistantships, academic courses, seminar discussions, and self-directed projects, learners cultivate critical analysis capabilities and scholarly autonomy. We accept candidates from accounting backgrounds as well as adjacent disciplines like finance and economics.
Our Accounting department ranks among Canada's most extensive, boasting 34 faculty members. In the last two decades, we've produced 10 gold medal winners on the CPA Canada Common Final Examination - more than any other Canadian institution.

Qualification Requirements
A master's degree in business or related field with a minimum B+ standing.
Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by successful completion of the GMAT Focus exam with a score of 595 or higher (formerly GMAT score of 650 or higher). You can find a link here to the GMAT conversion table. We will also accept a GRE score. A GRE score must convert to the minimum 595 GMAT Focus score required. Please note that the GMAT/GRE requirement is mandatory for the application and cannot be waived.

Applications are reviewed by the graduate program committee, which considers all prior university grades, a statement of research interests, an academic writing sample, and letters of reference.
TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Home Edition: minimum score of 83, with minimum skill scores of 20 in each of the skills tests (speaking, writing, reading and listening).
Paper-based TOEFL: minimum of 560.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS, IELTS Online): academic minimum score of 6.5 with no band score below 6.0.
