This intensive two-term program delivers specialized training in vocal technique and opera performance within a dynamic, teamwork-focused setting that explores opera production from its foundations.

Each academic year features Opera Laurier presenting a curated selection of operatic and musical theater pieces in autumn, followed by a complete opera production during winter term.

Qualification Requirements
Students must have the following:
- An undergraduate degree or diploma in music.
- A successful audition.
- Completion of the following prerequisite courses: MU298: Introduction to Opera, MU490: Practical Study, and two first-year (or equivalent) language courses in French, German, Italian or Russian (or permission from the dean).
English Proficiency
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component; Paper-based testing: 560 or higher.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) - 70 overall or higher (each band 60 or higher).
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) - 59 overall or higher.
Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) - Overall score of 176.
