Music Therapy harnesses the power of music as a therapeutic tool for healing, personal development, and building relationships. Discover how to design and implement music-based interventions tailored to individual client needs while observing music's impact on physical health, emotional state, mental processes, and social interactions.
Laurier stands as Ontario's sole university providing an undergraduate music therapy degree, offering exceptional access to study this captivating discipline under experienced instructors and professionals.
The curriculum includes specialized training in clinical improvisation, case analysis, therapeutic approaches, plus two years of supervised clinical practice in both group and individual settings, both on-campus and in local communities. Additional coursework covers developmental, abnormal, clinical, and social psychology. While focusing on your primary instrument, you'll also develop proficiency in percussion, piano, and guitar for clinical applications.

Must have high standing in Laurier Music and Psychology courses and strong interpersonal skills.
English Proficiency
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component; Paper-based testing: 560 or higher.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) - 70 overall or higher (each band 60 or higher).
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) - 59 overall or higher.
Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) - Overall score of 176.
