The project-focused MSc curriculum addresses the increasing industry need for skilled practical geologists. Students in this project-oriented program play a vital role in Resource Geoscience Western, a collaborative initiative with industry partners that positions us as leaders in Canadian Earth Sciences across multiple applied disciplines.
Our thesis-driven MSc program equips emerging researchers with independent study skills, guiding them through problem identification, data gathering, method development, literature analysis, and thesis composition. This comprehensive approach serves as the primary training ground for mastering research methodologies. Independent exploration is complemented by graduate coursework featuring lectures, lab sessions, and various assignments including research papers and seminars.
