Western's program has built strong foundations in social and political theory along with media and cultural studies, while preserving its long-standing expertise in critical theory and continental philosophy. The Theory Centre's MA program stands out from other graduate offerings through its dedicated focus on intellectual history and its relationship to modern critical theory approaches. While the program highlights theory as a primary subject of study, enabling deep exploration of specific theoretical frameworks, it also motivates students to interact with current critical examinations in aesthetics, society, and politics.
