The Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences recognizes the significance of your personal goals and ambitions, understanding they're as distinctive as each individual. In the fields of statistical sciences, actuarial studies, and financial modeling, you'll work with data collection, analysis, and modeling through advanced mathematical and computational systems. We foster strong connections and collaboration between students and professors. Our faculty offices, most classrooms, and one of campus's most advanced computer labs are conveniently located on the second floor of the Western Science Centre (also known as Paterson Building). The Actuarial & Statistical Undergraduate Association (ASUA) coordinates educational workshops, collaborative study sessions, and networking events.
Statisticians specialize in gathering, examining, and making sense of data through probabilistic frameworks. The department's statisticians primarily concentrate on computationally intensive real-world data applications, including scientific research and business modeling, while also conducting foundational theoretical studies in statistical methodologies.
