Earth Sciences explores our planet's systems and features. This field examines Earth's internal makeup and structure; its active nature (including seismic events, volcanic activity, and continental movement); subsurface mechanisms; surface-shaping forces and materials; relationships between terrestrial processes, climate patterns, and ecological balance; the formation, distribution, extraction, and management of natural resources (minerals, energy sources, soils, and water); Earth's position in our solar system, and the evolution of life.
At Western University, our Earth Sciences Department fosters a collaborative, vibrant community that blends advanced theoretical and practical research with exceptional teaching and mentorship for both graduate and undergraduate students. Our alumni hold positions in various sectors including private industry, academic institutions, and government agencies throughout Canada and internationally.
